3.2 : Recreation Ground 2
Just past the pavilion, the silver undersides of the poplar leaves
shimmer in every gentle summer breeze. This is fast growing and, in tree terms,
short lived. In a few hundred years the other slower growing trees around it will
dominate the landscape.
The Duke of Rutland, when selling land in Bakewell, conveyed this area to the
town in the early 1920's.
