3.1 : Recreation Ground 1
Passing the agricultural centre with its new planting of rowans and field maples,
go over the bridges towards town. There are old hawthorns on the riverside walk,
each one an individual character. Head along beside the river to the Recreation
Ground.
In a beautiful bend in the river, by the cricket pavilion, is a weeping willow.
In winter this carries spectacular drooping, brilliant yellow, shoots. One of
the few oaks in the town stands next to the toilets.
